Two of Cups

In the Two of Cups, two skeletons raise their cups to each other while a winged beast watches over the meeting. This is not carefree fusion but an alliance in which both become visible before something larger than themselves. Connection is formed between two separate wills. Check whether each person can express desire, terms, and refusal without punishment. Reciprocity does not require identical contributions, but both need real influence over what is being built. One beautiful encounter can begin trust; only repeated actions preserve it. The clink of cups begins an agreement. It does not guarantee one.
Reversed
In the reversed Two of Cups, the cups may still touch even though the hands are no longer free. The alliance may look equal from outside while concealing dependency, hidden terms, unequal power, or fear of what will happen if someone says no. Do not try to repair coercion with greater vulnerability. First determine whether each person can refuse, retain their own money and relationships, and seek support without surveillance or retaliation. Ordinary conflict can withstand negotiation; threats, isolation, and control call for safety and outside help. An image of two cups does not make every agreement voluntary.
