The Sun

The Sun makes shadows readable. It brings vitality, clarity, and permission to enjoy what is genuinely good. The Sun in the image is no pretty ornament but an enormous, burning face before which a human being looks small. Its light reveals both what is blooming and what can no longer withstand daylight. This is a time to look directly at the facts, let success register in your body, and share warmth with others. Joy is not a prize for living a flawless life, and you do not have to be ashamed of it in the midst of grief. The Sun does not promise that everything will work out. It says more is visible here than in the dark — and that is enough to make the next honest move.
Reversed
The reversed Sun asks whether there is too little light or so much that it hurts your eyes. Joy may be muted, forced, or hidden behind exhaustion. This card does not order you to cheer up. It distinguishes a need for rest from disappointment and from a situation where a bright facade hides a scorched surface. Perhaps you do not dare enjoy something because losing it frightens you; perhaps you are trying to look happy so no one notices the heat. Lower the spotlight and ask what feels genuinely alive without an audience. A cloud does not extinguish the Sun, but sometimes wisdom means finding shade before your skin burns.
