The Magician

Everything you need may not be ready, but there is enough. The tools, experience and words are on your table; what is missing will emerge as you use them. The Magician does not wait for permission or announce the trick in advance. He knows that attention is a blade: it can cut open a door or cut your own hand. The Magician joins will with skill. A wish alone becomes breath on a mirror, while action without purpose becomes a heap of movement. Choose what you are bringing into being and let your hands prove it. Know your limits as well. True mastery is not knowing how to do everything, but knowing which tool to use and which to leave untouched. You have influence in this situation. Use it so that you will not later have to wash blood from your sleeves.
Reversed
Everything on the Magician’s table appears to be in its proper place, but one of the tools has been replaced with a prop. There is power, but no direction. When the will breaks into too many pieces, the hands stay busy and nothing is completed. The reversed Magician does not always indicate inability. More often, it points to an ability used to hide insecurity, control appearances or avoid the moment when something true must be shown. You may promise more than you can carry, or diminish yourself so that you never have to try. Both are smoke. Gather the tools back onto the table and name what truly belongs to you. If a plan constantly needs new explanations to remain alive, it may already be a corpse. The magic returns when the intention can withstand daylight.
