Strength does not mean the beast never wakes. It means you can stand beside it without becoming its teeth. The woman in the image does not deny her body's fear, anger, or desire. She feels their weight and still decides what her hands will do. Instinct is not an enemy but a powerful animal that needs a relationship, a task, and a boundary. A suppressed beast learns the passages beneath the house; a worshiped beast eats the house. Let anger guard what matters, fear scout for danger, and desire remind you that you are alive. Give none of them the crown. Gentleness in this card is not submission but carefully regulated power. The strongest person in the room is often the one who has no need to prove it.
Reversed
The lion has either been locked in the basement or raised onto the throne. Either way, blood eventually appears on the stairs. The reversed Strength speaks of instinct that has been shamed, crushed, or obeyed for so long that you can no longer distinguish its voice from your own will. You may look controlled in public and erupt where you feel safest. Or fear, rage, or desire may dictate the next action before you have time to choose. Do not moralize your nervous system, but do not make emotion a license to harm. Anger may reveal a violated boundary; it does not grant the right to bite. Leave the situation before damage is done, restore the body's basic needs, and repair what you have broken. If anyone's safety is at risk, distance comes first. Strength returns through practice, not one grand victory.
